Unisystem is one of the few companies directly involved in creating Ukraine’s IT market. In the course of two decades, Unisystem has traveled a long road of evolution from a small software implementation firm to a prominent player in the integrated automation market for the retail and service sectors, and a developer of electronic payment systems.

History of Growth

1989
The year when Unisystem was founded.

1989-1992
Business was concentrated in personal computer and software supply. Implementation of a project to create and automate a network of employment centers in Ukraine.

1993
A priority line of business was identified: development and production of fiscal equipment.

1994
Implementation of the full fiscal equipment production cycle.

1995
Unisystem emerged as a national operator in the Ukrainian market. Formation of a dealer network of over 200 service centers. The first 10,000 fiscal devices were sold. Unisystem became a leader in sales of payment transaction registers.

1996
The beginning of regional expansion. The number of service centers grew to 400.

1997
Unisystem became the Ukrainian market leader in portable electronic cash registers (ECR).

1998-1999
Product exports to Romania and Moldova. Collaboration with the National Bank of Ukraine was launched on the NSMEP project. Beginning of a working relationship with Citizen Business Machines (CMB).

2000
Launch of mass production of a thermal printing mechanism of Unisystem’s own design. Working contacts established with Rohm Electronics. Unisystem products were exported to Russia and Serbia.

2001-2002
Development of the MINI-FP compact fiscal printer. Start of production of kiosk printers. The first 10,000 thermal printing mechanisms were produced. Launch of mass production of POS printers and mini controllers. The distribution network expanded to 600 companies.

2003
The first custom product development for Ukrainian partners.

2004-2005
Unisystem brought Korean POS printers from Samsung and Sewoo, Japanese scanning equipment from Opticon, and POS equipment from Posiflex to the Ukrainian market. Production of UNS electronic retail scales was launched. A fiscal electronic cash register and a taximeter were listed in the State Register and put on the market. Working relations were started with Seiko Instruments.

2006
A new brand arrived on the Ukrainian market: POS printers made by Unisystem and sold under the UNS brand name. The UNS ?POS retail terminal was developed. Integrated automation solutions were implemented at 50 sites. Custom development work and manufacturing for foreign partners began. Unisystem products were exported to 12 countries.

2007
Implementation of new designs: the UNS SP1B mobile thermal printer, the UNS EP embedded printer for use in instrument design, and the UNS Term-S payment terminal for non-bank payments. Production of a new line of UNS-Excel scales was launched and listed in the State Register. The MINI-400ME portable cash register and the new generation MINI-FP6 fiscal printer were listed in the State Register.

2008
The Security Systems line of business was under development in close cooperation with Samsung Techwin, as well as with Electronics Line and IDTech. Launch of the non-bank part of the Alpha payment system. Development of a UNIDEX data receiving and transmitting system began, with hardware based on the UNS-TERM-S terminal.

2009
The UNIDEX data receiving/transmitting system was completed and put into commercial use. A  GSM/GPRS data transmission smart modem for UNIDEX was developed and put into production. The MINI-500 series cash register line was upgraded.
